A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. Central Time.

Present: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Thrasher, Heikkinen, Stachowicz, and Valesano.

Absent:    None

Also present were City Manager Nordeman, City Attorney Lawrence, and City Clerk/Treasurer Olson.

The purpose of this special meeting was to conduct the annual budget hearing regarding the budget for fiscal year 2005 – 2006 for the City of Crystal Falls.

Mayor Hendrickson led everyone in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Manager Nordeman explained the process he used in putting together this budget.  Some of the notable highlights of this budget are:  the need for the General Fund to become more self supporting and thus he suggested the 1 mill increase on the taxes to help pay for fire protection, the employee wages have been increased by the CPI of 3.2%, expected timber sale revenue is $45,000, a new plow truck will be needed in the public works department, and a new auger truck will be purchased for use in the electric department.

Councilors asked for clarification on some of the aspects of the budget and Manager Nordeman explained.

There were no comments or questions from the visitors in attendance. 

Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Thrasher moved to adjourn this public hearing of the Crystal Falls City Council at 4:03 p.m.
