DRAFT A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Monday, December 12, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. Present: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Thrasher, Valesano, Heikkinen, and Stachowicz. Absent: None Also present were City Manager Nordeman, Attorney Lawrence, and City Clerk/Treasurer Olson; DDA members Mike Ferguson, Lori Baukus, Ken Santi, Pat Sommers, Jeff Syrjanen, and David Sherby; Nancy Roberts and Bill Sanders of U.P. Engineering; business owners Steve and Terri Plowe, Mike and Kristin Onderak, Packy Eckola, Randy Hegstrom, and Robert Black; Jeff Sjoquist and Scott McNelis of Coleman Engineering; and various others including Marlene Bicigo, Bill Leonoff, Lynn Perry, and Donald Boulanger. The purpose of this special meeting was to begin discussions relative to the Streetscape project scheduled for 2007. Mayor Hendrickson led everyone in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Hendrickson turned the meeting over the Nancy Roberts of U.P. Engineers who is the Streetscape project manager. Ms. Roberts introduced Bill Sanders, U.P. Engineer landscape architect. The two of them led the discussions using a power point presentation to get the group in tune to the project at hand. Various aspects of the project were touched on and old plans designed by STS Consultants several years earlier were reviewed. Ms. Roberts asked for a group of committed people to form a committee to help get the plans for this project on paper. Mayor Hendrickson established a Streetscape Committee consisting of the City Manager, Mayor, Councilor Thrasher, and 3 DDA members (DDA will determine who these will be) to meet with Ms. Roberts and Mr. Sanders. The meetings will be held every other week on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. at the City Hall with the first meeting scheduled for December 19, 2005. The meetings will be open to the public. Councilor Thrasher seconded by Councilor Valesano moved to adjourn this special meeting of the City Council. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. |
