A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 4:00 pm Central Time.

Present: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Valesano, Smokevitch, and Bicigo.

Absent: None

Also present were City Manager Nordeman, City Clerk/Treasurer Olson, Attorney Ron Basso, Julie Melchiori, and John Lortie.

The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss and consider action on:

The purchase of real property.

Request from John Lortie for pay increase.

Mayor Hendrickson led all in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Mayor Hendrickson moved to meet in closed session pursuant to PA 267, 1976, Section 15.268 (d) to consider the purchase of real property.

Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, Valesano, and Bicigo. Nays: None.

Motion carried.

John Lortie was asked to leave the Council Chambers, all other stayed.

Meeting temporarily adjourned at 4:04 p.m.

Meeting reconvened at 4:39 p.m.

Mayor Hendrickson directed Manager Nordeman and Attorney Basso to proceed with negotiations for the purchase of the Lawrence/Seiter property on N. 4th Street as discussed in the closed session.

John Lortie requested a closed session for his personnel evaluation.

Mayor Hendrickson seconded by Councilor Valesano moved to meet in closed session pursuant to PA 267, 1976, Section 15.268 (a) to conduct the personnel evaluation of John Lortie.

Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, Valesano, and Bicigo. Nays: None.

Motion carried.

Attorney Basso and Julie Melchiori exited the Council Chambers.

Meeting temporarily adjourned at 4:42 p.m.

Meeting reconvened at 4:47 p.m.

Councilor Valesano seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved to promote John Lortie from Step 2 ($15.15/hr) to Step 3 ($15.70/hr) of the Equipment Operator wage scale effective with the current pay period. (Said pay period began 12/16/07)

Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, Valesano, and Bicigo. Nays: None.

Motion carried.

Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Mayor Hendrickson moved to adjourn this special meeting of the City Council.

Motion carried.
