A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Monday, January 28, 2008 at 4:00 pm Central Time. Present: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Valesano, Smokevitch Heikkinen, and Bicigo. Absent: None Also present were City Manager Nordeman, City Attorney Lawrence, and City Clerk/Treasurer Olson. Visitors in attendance: Gerard Valesano, Glen Trzeciak, Alex Simbob, Julius Simbob, John & Marilyn Moon, Larry Bicigo, Dick Hendrickson, Lynn Perry, John Ponchaud, Mark Simeoni, and Officer Anthony Starr. The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss and consider action on the employment status of Police Officer Marcel Fraser. Mayor Hendrickson led the Pledge of Allegiance. Attorney Lawrence suggested calling Marcel Fraser to see if he planned to attend this meeting as he was the topic of discussion. Clerk Olson placed the call to Mr. Fraser’s home, he did not answer. City Manager Nordeman advised the City Council that Officer Marcel Fraser was suspended from his duties on January 24, 2008 following Fraser’s conviction in court on January 23, 2008 of receiving and concealing stolen property valued at over $200 but under $1000. Nordeman asked that the City Council support his recommendation to terminate Marcel Fraser’s employment with the City of Crystal Falls. Mayor Hendrickson seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved to approve the termination of Marcel Fraser as an employee of the City of Crystal Falls effective immediately. Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, Valesano, and Bicigo. Nays: None Motion carried. Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Valesano moved to adjourn this special meeting of the City Council. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 4:08 p.m.
