A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. Central Time.

Present: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Thrasher, Valesano and Stachowicz.

Absent: None

Also present were City Manager Nordeman, City Attorney Lawrence, City Clerk/Treasurer Olson, and several citizens.

The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss the following:

Consideration of the offer from the Iron County Human Services Board regarding funds for the Crystal Manor redevelopment.

Discussion of a possible counter proposal to the Iron County Human Services Board regarding funds for the Crystal Manor redevelopment.

Consideration of the appointment of David Sabo to the Electric Utility Advisory Board.

Mayor Hendrickson led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

A letter outlining the latest recommendation of the Iron County Human Services Board to the Iron County Board of Commissioners was read to the assembly by Councilor Thrasher.

Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Stachowicz moved that Attorney Lawrence be directed to send a letter to the Iron County Board of Commissioners noting that a copy of the letter from the Iron County Human Services Board has been reviewed by the City Council, however, until the Iron County Board of Commissioners takes action on the Human Services Board recommendation, the Crystal Falls City Council must decline to act on it.

Ayes: None

Nays: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Thrasher, Valesano, and Stachowicz.

Motion failed.

Councilor Thrasher seconded by Mayor Hendrickson moved to instruct Attorney Lawrence to send a letter to the Iron County Board of Commissioners Chairperson indicating that the Crystal Falls City Council received a copy of the recommendation to the County Board from the Iron County Human Services Board and find the recommendation unacceptable. Further, the Crystal Falls City Council respectfully requests that the Iron County Board of Commissioners consider releasing $240,000 of the promised demolition funds to the City of Crystal Falls for redevelopment of the Crystal Manor.

Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Stachowicz, Heikkinen, and Thrasher.

Nays: Councilor Valesano

Motion carried.

Mayor Hendrickson seconded by Councilor Valesano moved to appoint David Sabo to serve in the "citizen at large" position on the Electric Advisory Board.

Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Valesano, Stachowicz, Heikkinen, and Thrasher.

Nays: None

Motion carried.

Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Stachowicz moved to adjourn this special meeting of the City Council.

Motion carried.
