A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 5:00 pm Central Time.

Present: Councilors Valesano, Smokevitch, Heikkinen, and Bicigo.

Absent: Mayor Hendrickson

Also present were City Manager Nordeman, City Attorney Lawrence, and City Clerk/Treasurer Olson.

Visitors in attendance: Attorney Ron Basso and Julie Melchiori.

The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss and consider action on:

Dedication of "Clark’s Landing".

ATC Investment.

Purchase of property for parking area for Manor project.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

The matter of "Clark’s Landing" was postponed to a future meeting to allow Mayor Hendrickson to participate.

Mayor Pro-Tem Valesano seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved to invest in the current American Transmission Company (ATC) capital call. (Investment amount will be approximately $6,000).

Ayes: Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, Valesano, and Bicigo. Nays: None Absent: Mayor Hendrickson

Motion carried.

Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Valesano moved to meet in closed session pursuant to the Open Meetings Act, P.A. 1976, No. 267, 15.268 (d), to consider the purchase of real property for a parking area at the Crystal Manor building.

Ayes: Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, Valesano, and Bicigo.

Nays: None Absent: Mayor Hendrickson

Motion carried.

Meeting temporarily adjourned at 5:10 p.m. when the Council retreated to the City Manager’s office to conduct the closed session.

Meeting reconvened at 6:12 p.m.

A special meeting date of Friday, March 28, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. was set to further discuss the purchase of property for a parking area. Clerk Olson was directed to post said meeting.

Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Smokevitch moved to adjourn this special meeting of the City Council.

Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 6:14 p.m.
