A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chamber of the City Hall on Monday, March 27, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. Central Time. Present: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Thrasher, Valesano and Stachowicz. Absent: None Also present were City Manager Nordeman, City Attorney Lawrence, City Clerk/Treasurer Olson, Jeff Sjoquist, Scott McNeilis, Lynn Perry, and Richard Hendrickson. The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss the following: Water Project engineering contract with Coleman Engineering. Police Car Bid award. Appointment of Police Chief. Phone System Support & Monitoring Contract. Iron County Dept of Human Services Board letter regarding utilities at the Crystal Manor. Mayor Hendrickson led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jeff Sjoquist of Coleman Engineering reviewed the aspects of the revised engineering contract for the City’s water project. Mayor Hendrickson seconded by Councilor Thrasher moved to authorize City Manager Charles Nordeman to sign the Engineering Services Contract with Coleman Engineering for the Crystal Falls City Water Project contingent on the receipt of a favorable letter from U. S. Rural Development regarding said contract and the addition of Items F & G from Exhibit H into Exhibit I, with total of said contract to be $520,802.00. Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Thrasher, Valesano, and Stachowicz. Nays: None Motion carried. Councilor Thrasher seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved to award the bid for the police patrol vehicle, a 2006 Ford Expedition, in the amount of $26,535.00, to Florence Motor Sales. Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Thrasher, Valesano, and Stachowicz. Motion carried. Councilor Thrasher seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved to approve the appointment of Robert Sherwin as interim Chief of Police, for a period of six (6) months, upon the retirement of Jack Bicigo. Motion carried. Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Thrasher moved to approve the annual support and monitoring contract with Sentinel Technologies, Inc. for the phone system in the amount of $1,419. Motion carried. Councilor Thrasher seconded by Councilor Stachowicz moved to direct Attorney Lawrence to pen a letter to the Iron County Human Services Board expressing the objection of the City Council to the discontinuance of utilities at the Crystal Manor building. Motion carried. Councilor Heikkinen seconded by Councilor Stachowicz moved to adjourn this meeting. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
