He then called for the Crystal Manor Committee representatives to proceed with a motion for consideration by the Council. Councilor Hendrickson supported by Councilor Lind moved that the City of Crystal Falls, by its Council, authorize the City Manager to negotiate the terms of a transfer agreement between Iron County Community Hospital, Inc., the City of Crystal Falls, and the Iron County Medicare Facility. Attorney Geoff Lawrence advised that the Crystal Manor Committee had met with several parties including; Iron County Community Hospital Inc., the Crystal Manor employee union, two interested private nursing home owners, and the Iron County Medicare Facility representatives concerning the disposition of the Crystal Manor and building. Councilor Hendrickson noted that the building was a major factor in the decision to go with the Iron County Medicare Facility. Mayor Cram inquired as to the January 31, 2002 date for transfer and Attorney Lawrence noted that date was based on a cost report that ICCH had to prepare, however, it is not set in stone. Mr. Lawrence noted the actual transfer of the patients themselves would not occur until a new facility is constructed and prepared at the Medicare Facility complex. The Iron County Medicare Facility will continue to use the Manor building to house the patients until that time. There being no further items on the agenda, meeting adjourned at 11:07 a.m.
