UTILITY BILL PAYMENT OPTIONS

A special meeting of the Council for the City of Crystal Falls was held in the Council Chambers at the City Hall on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 3:00 pm Central Time.

Present: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, and Bicigo.

Absent: None

Also present were: City Manager Nordeman and City Attorney Lawrence.

Excused: City Clerk/Treasurer Olson.

Visitors in attendance were: David Graff and Attorney Ron Basso.

The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss the following:

Consider a resolution for charitable gaming license – FP Sports Boosters Club

Consider participation in the Final 2008 ATC Additional Capital Call

Conduct discussion regarding IBEW contract negotiations

Mayor Hendrickson led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Hendrickson seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved that the request from Forest Park Sports Boosters Club of the City of Crystal Falls, County of Iron, asking that they be recognized as a nonprofit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining charitable gaming licenses, be considered for approval by the Michigan Lottery Charitable Gaming Division.

Ayes: Mayor Hendrickson, Councilors Heikkinen, Smokevitch, and Bicigo. Nays: None Absent: None

Motion carried.

(Clerk will complete the required form for the above and forward the resolution to the proper authorities.)

Councilor Bicigo seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved that the City participate in the third and final voluntary additional capital call for the American Transmission Company (ATC).

Motion carried.

Mayor Hendrickson seconded by Councilor Heikkinen moved to meet in closed session pursuant to P.A. 1976, No. 267, 15.268, Section 8 (c), for a strategy session regarding the negotiations of the union contract with the electric dept employees.

Motion carried.

Meeting temporarily adjourned.

Meeting reconvened at 4:20 p.m.

Mayor Hendrickson seconded by Councilor Bicigo moved to appoint Mayor Hendrickson and in her absence, Councilor Bicigo, to the City’s union negotiating team along with Manager Nordeman, Supervisor Graff, and Attorney Basso on an "as needed" basis.

Motion carried.
