Camping

There are several campgrounds located within short driving distance of Crystal Falls in Iron County.

Runkle Lake Recreation Complex

This campground is owned and operated by the City of Crystal Falls. There is a campground host/caretaker on site 7 days a week. It opens Memorial Day weekend and closes immediately following the Labor Day weekend. It boasts of 33 modern and primitive camping sites. 17 sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups. Sites 18-33 have electric and water available. There are modern public rest rooms, showers, and a RV dump station. Some of the features of this park include: tennis, basketball, volleyball courts, Horseshoe pits, softball and little league fields, soccer field, playground and picnic areas, swimming, beach, and a public boat ramp and fishing pier. Runkle Lake Park is located only a few short minutes from ATM’s, convenient shopping, a laundromat, and access to the Paint River. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day call: 231-290-1598 for camping reservations. Please call Crystal Falls City Hall at (906) 875-3212 during the off-season. All reservations must be paid in full at time of request.

RUNKLE LAKE CAMPGROUND RULES AND REGULATIONS 2021

1. ALL CAMPSITES MUST BE PAID FOR UPON ARRIVAL. 2. CHECK OUT TIME IS 1:00 PM UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY CAMPGROUND HOST 3. FEES FOR EXTENDED STAYS ARE DUE BY 1:00 PM 4. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN ON RENTAL SITES 5. ALL CAMPSITES WILL BE KEPT SIGHTLY AND CLEAN WITH NO DEBRIS LEFT ON THE GROUND (FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, A DUMPSTER IS LOCATED BY THE SOCCER FIELD) 6. CAMPFIRES MUST BE ATTENDED AT ALL TIMES. 7. NO SPRINKLERS ARE ALLOWED IN CAMPSITES. 8. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHER CAMPERS AND DO NOT WALK- THROUGH OTHER CAMP SITES. 9. INSPECT SEWER AND WATER HOSES AND MAKE SURE THEY FIT PROPERLY AND HAVE NO LEAKS. 10. ALL ANIMALS MUST BE KEPT LEASHED, CLEANED UP AFTER, AND BE ATTENDED TO AT ALL TIMES. EXCESSIVE BARKING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. 11. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE BEACH AREA. 12. NO UNATTENDED CHILDREN ARE ALLOWED ON THE BEACH AS THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY AT THIS FACILITY. SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK. 13. NO GLASS OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED IN THE BEACH AREA OR ON THE PLAYGROUND. 14. NO BOATS OR FISHING IS ALLOWED WITHIN THE SWIMMING AREA. 15. QUIET TIME IS FROM 10:00 PM UNTIL 7:00 AM. 16. THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE PARK IS 10 M.P.H. 17. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL 911. 18. NO FIREWORKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE PARK. 19. HUNTING IS NOT ALLOWED IN RUNKLE LAKE PARK. 20. THE CUTTING OF TREES IS PROHIBITED WITHIN THE PARK. 21. SMOKING IS PROHIBITED IN ALL RESTROOM AND SHOWER FACILITIES. Failure to follow these rules may result in the eviction from your campsite. Please follow these rules so everyone can enjoy Runkle Lake Park! Notes A sewer dump station and water filling station are located near the soccer field. Please see the campground host for the key to these facilities.
